Special Education Parent Advisory Council
Our mission is to facilitate honest communication, collaboration, and mutual respect between students, parents, administration and the Board of Education for the purpose of improving the quality of special education policies, programs and practices. It is our goal to create a culture of inclusion, build community and empower you, the parent, to become an effective advocate for your child.
Who We Are
- SEPAC (Special Education Parent Advisory Council) is a group of volunteer parents whose children have IEPs or 504 plans and are enrolled in specialized academic, social and emotional support and services within the D62 school district.
- This community of parents is passionate in advocating for their diverse learners with disabilities and works to ensure that student needs are not only met but that each child is celebrated.
- In close collaboration with D62 leadership, SEPAC members offer insights, input, and make recommendations on D62's Special Education programs and practices. They are also valuable liaisons and advocates to the broader D62 community.
- The SEPAC Leadership Team is responsible for supporting parent educational opportunities, community outreach, communications, and membership.
