Beth Finke and Her Guide Dog Luna
Forest
Chicago-based author Beth Finke and her guide dog Luna recently visited students at Forest Elementary School.
Finke is an award-winning author, teacher, journalist and a recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts grant.
She spent time talking to the students about her children's book Safe and Sound.
Safe and Sound is about a blind woman, and how she travels safely around the city with the help of her specially-trained Golden/Labrador Retriever.
Finke spoke openly to the students about disability, trust and adapting to change.
She also spoke to them about the training Luna received and how she helps guide her.
The students enjoyed listening to Beth and were excited to pet Luna after the presentation.
