Forest Newspaper Club
Forest

The Forest Newspaper Club, made up of students in grades third through fifth, meets weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Ms. Joanne Zienty, Forest's Library Media Center Specialist, runs the club and says the reporters brainstorm topics for articles, research the topics as necessary, and then write their stories.

The club reports on Forest news, including the musicals that are performed at the school throughout the year, and they conduct interviews with teachers at the school.

The students also branch out beyond the walls of Forest, covering U.S. news such as the California wildfires, as well issues affecting the world.

The newspaper also an entertainment section with book and movie reviews, and sections on recipes, crafts and sports.

Depending on the output of the reporters, the club publishes one or two issues per year in a website format.

Zienty said the students really enjoy learning how newspapers and other news media are fact-based nonfiction.

And everyone, staff and students, seem to really enjoy reading the issues when they are published!
