Making Strides in 5th Grade Strings!
Forest Elementary School fifth grade orchestra students practice their musical skills weekly with Music Teacher Ms. Krygeris.
At a recent rehearsal, the students had the goal of identifying and playing “D” string notes.
The students began practicing the “Open String Samba,” in which they first plucked the strings to the beat.
Ms. Kryegeris demonstrated playing and then had the students follow along after.
The students then played a note identification game to review and practice the notes they had learned.
After the viola group was done practicing, Ms. Krygeris worked with a student who plays the cello string bass, repeating the same exercises as she had with the other students.
Ms. Krygeris said she is impressed with the strides the students are making!
They are looking forward to showing off their musical talents to family and friends at a concert in the near future!
