The Falcon Running Club kicked off on Tuesday, September 22nd, for Kindergarten through second-grade students. Third through fifth-grade students started on Thursday, September 24th.

The running club meets once a week during recess and runs from September to the middle of November.

Physical education teacher Mr. Sloma, the club's facilitator, met with the students in the gym first to go over what they would do for their first day.

He told them that for every mile they ran during the club, they would receive a foot charm to add to their bracelets.

Excited and ready to exercise, the students went outside and started running their laps around the cones.

The students enjoyed running together with their friends and challenging one another.

They didn't have to run at full speed the entire time; they could slow down to a jog or even walk to regain energy and finish strong.

After running laps around the cones on the playground, they all met with Mr. Sloma to count the popsicle sticks they collected.

Mr. Sloma then asked each student to report their total as he recorded it in his book.

Each week, he will record how many laps each student runs to show them their improvement over the course of the running club.

The students had a great time competing against one another and look forward to their next meeting.
